The Allegheny Observatory is probably the most photographed and famous site in Riverview Park. The observatory was built in 1867 by the Allegheny Telescope Association and later turned over to the University of Pittsburgh who now owns it. The observatory is used by the University for research.
The observatory is open to the public by appointment. To make an appointment call 412-321-2400.
